Adar

Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, Adar, is based out of Charlottesville, Virginia. She formed her band, “Adar”, in the summer of 2016, and has since gathered an enthusiastic following with her compelling original songs and her charismatic performances. “Adar” draws from a deep well of original compositions, and introduces new takes on covers that transcend genres from Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, and more. She released her first EP, The Rapids, in March, 2017. It is available on iTunes, Google Music, and Spotify.

Reviewing The Rapids, Nick Rubin of the C-Ville Weekly, wrote, “On The Rapids, classic soul sonics give way to balladry as well as touches of reggae and Cubanismo. Her band delivers tasty trumpet and organ solos and whining steel guitar; Adar’s lyrics are sensorily rich with flavors and textures, and…production sets everything in the right space.”

Adam DeGraff

Adam DeGraff is an American violinist, composer, producer, educator, and farmer. He spent the first part of his career as a first-chair, professional orchestral musician. Since then, Adam has been experimenting with rock violin, live looping, alternative music education, and traditional permaculture farming practices

Adam graduated from Northwestern University where he studied with famed Portuguese concert violinist, Gerardo Ribeiro. He then continued with graduate work at Rice University where he studied with the world’s most beloved concertmaster, Raphael Fliegel.

Today, millions of YouTube and Facebook views, powered by millions of people lazing around on their computers, has catapulted Adam and his projects into the realm of Fortune-500 corporate entertainment, NFL halftime shows, concerts for U.S. Presidents, senators, and governors, and live shows at many of the coolest concert venues on the planet. Adam is perhaps best known as one of the most intricate live looping violinists in the world. Exactly what does that mean? It means that every sound the audience hears is created love on stage: instantly recorded, layered, and looped back in real time without pre-recorded tracks. For Adam, it’s all about living and playing in the NOW!

Currently, Adam is touring his solo project, “Rock Violin Neat” worldwide. He also presents educational workshops, owns and operates The Lee Street Listening Room, provides premium corporate entertainment through his company Heavyweight Music, LLC, teaches in person and via Skype, and lives and farms with his family in what is officially “America’s Coolest Small Town,” Lewisburg, WV.

Adam Z. Markham

Having taken up banjo at the age of twelve, and guitar a year later, Adam immediately discovered an intense passion for music. Eventually focusing primarily on acoustic and electric guitars, vocals and harmonica, and with a repertoire that has been described as “from Hank to Hendrix,” Adam has now been performing consistently for more than thirty years. Former bands include Bebop Hoedown, Cows in Trouble, The Housecats, and the Satellite of Love.

Adalia Tara

Singer- songwriter Adalia Tara, bares her whole heart when she performs. Her evocative lyrics are at the center of her soulful sound, inspiring courageous awakening, giving voice to social change, and calling for more kindness in the world. She has recently returned to her native city of Washington D.C. from Sedona, Arizona. There, she was an active performer playing at many events including TEDx, the Sedona International Film Festival, Illuminate Film Festival, and the International Day of Peace, as well as many local venues, private parties and weddings. She performed her original music as a solo artist as well as singing classics with her Jazz band. Her debut music video “Release Me,” played at the Sedona International Film Festival and won “Audience Choice Award” at the Crossroads Film Festival in Jackson, Mississippi, and “Best Music Video” at the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience.

Buggers to Blame

Hailing from Franklin County, Virginia, brothers Josh and Brent have been playing music together since the early “Christmas Jams” at their home in the 1990’s. Now teamed up with Mary-Chris on drums, Buggers to Blame brings a fresh perspective to some of their favorite music, from rowdy honky-tonk ballads to rootsy rock & blues and everything in between. Showcasing a handful of songs originally written decades ago, Buggers inspire images and stories that reveal their love of the land and how they have developed a true relationship with the rural countryside they call home.

David Mahler

David Mahler, a Virginia based dulcimer player and teacher, began playing the hammered dulcimer at the age of ten. Four years later, he competed and won the title of National Champion (setting the record for the youngest contestant to ever win). David is quite versatile on the dulcimer playing a range of traditional Appalachian, European folk, Classical, as well as joining contemporary folk rock and pop bands for recording sessions and performances. He is currently playing in the group, “Silk Cedar” which is a Chinese-American fusion band led by Yangqin master, Liu Yuening. They have toured China and will be playing in the east coast this year. Recently, David released an instructional European music book for the hammered dulcimer, catering to all levels of players. Always, he remains open to ideas and opportunities that incorporate the hammered dulcimer into new avenues of music and the arts.

Dogwood Tales

Dogwood Tales is an americana/alt country duo from Harrisonburg, Virginia. The core of the band is Kyle and Ben, two childhood best friends who grew up playing in different bands together. Influenced by other duos such as Welch and Rawlings, or Gram and Emmylou, Dogwood Tales plays modern Americana music with a traditional and laid back flair.

Good Buddy

Abe Goorskey and Philipp Gabathuler started playing as “Good Buddy” after a chance encounter with a homeless bluesman having breakfast at a street-side café in Lynchburg. He saddled up to the breakfast table without hesitation (or invitation) and introduced himself as Good Buddy. Inspired by his friendly smile and demeanor, the duo when home and worked up some train songs. Since then, Good Buddy has created a traditional sound where harmonies and stylistic playing will have you feelin’ like you’re rollin’ along the James River in an open Georgia Southern box car!

Katelyn Georgianna Vallier

Katelyn Georgianna Vallier is a Michigan Performing Artist. The passion for music runs deep in her roots. You can catch this “Nightingale” sweetly serenading folk music to the audience with her voice and acoustic guitar Sunday morning at the Jam!

Kurt Russell

Kurt plays a blend of Irish folk, bluegrass, blues and ambient soundscapes. Catch his set Friday evening on the Gazebo!

Mountain Run Band

Made up of brothers Clif and David Coleman and son/nephew Al Coleman, this dynamic blues and classic rock trio plays every year at Mountain Run Jam. Drummer Clif and bassist David have been rocking out together for over three decades now, and when Al stepped away from his junior drum kit and strapped on his first electric guitar, a band was born. Fun fact: this power trio opened up for Todd Rundgren on his 70th birthday this summer! Don’t miss their show!
